Hello and Welcome to My Website - The Pilates Physiotherapist

A little about me…

I’m Sarah, a Senior Specialist MSK Chartered Physiotherapist, a Specialist Perinatal Physiotherapist, APPI trained Pilates Instructor, Apos Health Certified Clinician, a Level 3 Pre & Post Natal Fitness Instructor and I have specialist training in Paediatric Musculoskeletal Disorders.

I work in a busy Private Physiotherapy Practice just south of Canterbury where I assess, treat and manage a variety of patients with varying musculoskeletal, perinatal, sport, neurological or paediatric conditions and injuries.

I have extensive Physiotherapy experience working in the NHS and Private medical settings in the UK and abroad, along with football and rugby clubs. I have been teaching Pilates for nearly a decade now after training initially to complement my Physiotherapy skills. I am fortunate to be able to see the benefits every day of how important movement, core control, muscle lengthening and relaxation promotes healing and improves the mind and body.

My Pilates training is by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). I teach Matwork for all ages and levels, for any condition/injury, and for mums and mums-to-be. I am a Prenatal and Postnatal Pilates Specialist and I have also completed many hours of additional training in Sports-Specific Pilates. I am experienced in both 1:1 sessions and group classes and always try to tailor each exercise to each individual's needs.

Pilates is also something I have hugely benefited from personally. I have a double major scoliosis and have therefore experienced severe back and nerve pain in the past. Pilates and Scoliosis-Specific exercises have not only kept any pain at bay but have also improved the degree of curvature I have to my spine - so I am straighter! I am fortunate to be able to understand movement rehabilitation from a professional and personal level and I want to be able to utilise my knowledge to educate others on how best to improve or optimise their wellbeing.

I am focusing my Private Pilates on Pre and Postnatal 1:1s and Group Classes (Pregnancy and Postnatal / Mum & Baby). I see many patients weekly that would benefit from tailored core strength, enhanced pelvic floor control, improved spinal and joint mobility and overall body lengthening exercises. The body is doing a miraculous thing growing a baby and recovering afterwards but there are things we can do to improve wellness during this time. I would like to be able to assist any Mums or Mums-to-Be improve their functional ability, prepare for birth and assist recovery in the postpartum period as best possible.

TESTIMONIALS

It is so lovely to attend a Mum & Baby Class that is actually for us Mums! I actually workout in the class and I can feel my core afterwards! I feel confident with Sarah as she is so knowledgeable in postnatal care so I know I'm doing exercises that are safe for me. She's very approachable and has answered any questions or concerns we have on our recovery. It's also great to be able to bring my baby along to it as I don't have to worry about childcare! Highly recommend!
